Latest Research Paper: PBS Pollination Control Tents (PCTs) yield >30% higher seeds than open control!

We’re delighted to announce the publication of the latest research paper Assessing the effectiveness of nonwoven fabric pollination tents for improved grass breeding by Michael Trammell, Dusty G. Pittman, Daljit Singh Virk and Hannah Senior.

The team at the Noble Research Institute uniquely examined the effectiveness of replacing isolation plots for seed production and grass breeding with different sizes of novel nonwoven synthetic fabric pollination control tents (PCTs) with some really encouraging results!  Conclusions include:

• PCTs make it possible to use duraweb® materials to control pollination over larger areas and multiple plants

• PCTs have demonstrated efficacy in controlling unwanted pollen

• Although micro-environmental conditions differ slightly to the ambient climate, this has neutral or even beneficial impact on seed output

• PCTs yield >30% higher seeds in some species!
